Seen in West Sussex on Tuesday 31st October 2023
Happy Fungi Friday!
This is the update you have all been waiting for. Since I posted about the agaricus mushrooms growing in a patch of grass on a street in the town where I live, I’ve been back to check on them.

Despite intense rain in recent days the mushrooms have continued to grow without melting. They’re part of a local flush of mushrooms in lawns and grasslands around the edge of the town.

One has been picked and upturned, showing the pinky-brown gills. The stipe also did not yellow, so it’s not yellow stainer.

I do love to see a mushroom growing in such an abrupt location.

Here’s a view of the gills, where you can see the shimmer of the pinky-brown, and the collar.
Thanks for reading.
