This week the heavens have opened. The down payment has been paid on the mushroom season.

This is no evidence of mushroom season, but this stereum (probably hairy curtain crust, stereum hirsutum) has taken on a more vibrant guise after the rain.

As ever on Fungi Friday, no awards are being won for these phone pics. But the photo does show how this species grows on fallen dead wood.
