There is something so abrupt about slime mould, and none more so than dog vomit slime mould!
Slime moulds are not fungi, but are thought to be closer to animals than fungi in genetic and evolutionary terms.

I spotted this splash of yellow while leading a small guided walk in Sydenham Hill Wood in south London. It looked like yellow paint from afar, which was entirely possible.
It matured very quickly over 2 days, to become this thick mustard, in both colour and texture.
