Hello mushroom world
Welcome to a new blog focused on the amazing world of fungi, with a bias towards southern England, where I live.
My name’s Daniel Greenwood and I created this blog in July 2023 to indulge a passion for our sporey friends of the woodland underworld. I’m an enthusiast with an eye for a shroom, rather than being a mycologist or certified ‘expert’.
That said I do lead educational fungi walks in SE England, mainly in London, Sussex and Hampshire, which I will advertise/report on here.
I’ve been photographing fungi for over a decade and have been sharing lots of fungi posts on my website over the years.
I felt like opening a new frontier in the world of my blogging as there wasn’t mushroom on my main website. The content was spilling over like a rampant network of mycelium, threatening to recycle everything else into organic matter.
This website gets its name from a once lively Twitter hashtag that I also published weekly blogs under during the Covid-19 lockdowns. But now that particular micro-blogging website has been taken over by the evil overlord of regrettable social media management, it doesn’t have the same impact.
This is not an attempt to launch a new Twitter alternative, obvz, but it is a new corner of the digital wood-wide web.
The first posts appearing here will be some of my features about fungi.
The posting pattern will of course aim for Fridays but the idea is for more regular, shorter posts. If you subscribe to this by email, you may end up with an inbox full of fungi!
There are no plans to sell anything on this website, but I would love to feature some other photographers, writers and enthusiasts. Please do get in touch if interested: unlockinglandscapes@gmail.com
Everyone is welcome (positively encouraged) to read and engage with this site, nature is for everyone and everyone is nature.
Stay shroomy out there people, and hope you enjoy this new wood-wide-website!
Daniel – 🍄
